About Us
AOCSN fosters communication and mutual support among Christian Science nursing organizations by gathering and disseminating valuable information about Christian Science nursing standards, Christian Science nursing education, Christian Science nursing management, and organizational administration and governance. This is accomplished through teleconferences, focus meetings, e-tools such as this website, and annual conferences.
Membership is open to all Christian Science nursing organizations that are either accredited by an organization maintained for the purpose of accrediting Christian Science nursing organizations, or meet the following criteria: (1) are not-for-profit, (2) provide all nursing by Christian Science nurses under the 24-hour direct supervision of a Christian Science nurse listed in The Christian Science Journal, and (3) abide by the following statement: A Christian Science nursing organization provides Christian Science nursing care in home and/or facility settings to those relying on Christian Science for healing. The Christian Science nursing organization shall be in compliance with the provision for the Christian Science nurse in the Church Manual by Mary Baker Eddy.
Organizations that are not accredited and that provide nursing by Christian Science nurses with oversight by a Christian Science nurse listed in The Christian Science Journal (but not under 24-hour direct supervision of the Journal-listed Christian Science nurse), and that otherwise fulfill the criteria for membership, may apply for Associate membership.
This website includes information about non-member organizations that provide Christian Science nursing care in accordance with the Church Manual and are approved by AOCSN’s Executive Committee.
